We raise rabbits for meat and have ducks for eggs. My homestead is suburban, but we do grow about 50% of our own food on just under a 1/2 acre.

My husband wants to travel in an RV when we retire, so he watches lots of YouTube videos of people doing just that including boon docking. I will definitely need to perfect the art of the short shower if it comes to fruition.

Thanks for support & responses, LuckyRobin - I raised calves also, I had a 2 1/2 acre pasture so it was easier than pens, but that can be done. I raised them for 2 years, I made more money on them when I sold them at 6 months rather than full grown. Rabbits were the easiest, chickens & pigs created unpleasant waste but the eggs were a plus. I was fearful my children would be squeamish to eat them but it was an unnecessary worry. They loved them. I didn't butcher my own pigs or cattle, I did process the rabbits & chickens. Not the most pleasant task but you learn.

creditcardfree - Bob Wells has a good boon docking site, I met him while in AZ. His story is interesting. www.cheaprvliving.com It's not the life for everyone, the ones doing it full time love it. Don't do what I & most of the novices do, Buy too much stuff you don't need.
